The destination of all the words is Silence.

Words will always belong to the mental realm, to the path. What is beyond the path? The destination. Whatever is being said is being said so that you can be close to the destination. Words are for the sake of Silence if they are arising from silence. Words arising from the Silence are for the sake of Silence. Be directly established in the Silence.

You take a shortcut. You take a direct path. When you cannot comprehend the words, just know that the destination of all the words is Silence. So you directly go there. Why take the circuitous route? Words are like that mischievous tourist guide who wants to inflate his billing, so he will take you by the longest route possible. And in taking you through the longest route, he’s assuring you of his own importance, “You see, it was such a torturous route. You would’ve lost your way. Good that you hired me. See now I am navigating you through all this maze.” This is what words do.

We use words not to communicate, but to avoid communication

Question: You said that assigning words means that we are giving a meaning to something. So is it that a desire to communicate or a need to communicate the perfect barrier towards attaining meaninglessness?

Acharya Prashant:

You do not communicate through words; you use words to avoid communication.

That is why when you are really communicating, then words become so peripheral. That is why those who are really listening will not be paying much attention to my words. I often tell my friends, simply keep forgetting what I am saying. Simply keep discarding what I am saying. If you are really listening, then you do not need my words. Words are just some kind of pretence. At best you can call them, a vehicle. They are carrying something. Take what those words are carrying and leave the vehicle outside. Read the love letter and discard the envelope.

Krishna, Shiva, words, and Silence

Listener 1: Sir how can words have such a cleansing effect, don’t you think Silence speaks louder?

AP: Is there a contradiction between silence and words? Is there really? We have been silent since the last one hour. It’s such an eloquent Silence.

Listener 1: It’s still secondary.

AP: No, what do you think Silence is? If you think Silence is wordlessness then it is a very noisy silence.

Listener 1: How do you know that?

AP: Because you have taken silence to be something.

Listener 1: Then we are doing the same thing here.

AP: No, not really. We are not even talking of Silence. We are busy in what we are and this is Silence.

To not to think of Silence is Silence.

And,

To have an image of Silence as wordlessness or anything is noise.

Question: Sir, from past three years, I am reading your books and  I have interpreted some meanings of it. But from past three years, my meanings have changed, means it depends on my state of mind like to what extent I am grasping the explanation.

Acharya Prashant (AP): You are waiting for the right decision and you are saying that if I take a decision, it must be the final one and the right one — this is arrogance.

You can only decide as per your limited condition. So be surrendered, be truthful and then whatever is the decision that comes as right to you, execute it; don’t wait.

Time is a deception. Continue reading

How can I correct my mistakes?

Question: Sir, I see that the mistakes are happening over and over again. What to do?

Acharya Prashant: When the right intent will be there in all its power then these things will not happen, because these things are not natural. These are not your inner order. These things happen only when an external agency is sitting on your head, powers them to happen, otherwise, they cannot happen. Continue reading

The difference between ordinary and common

dsc_1773

Question: Sir what is the difference between being ordinary and being common?

Acharya Prashant: Commonness is social, commonness is what you see all around. What is very very prevalent is common. Ordinary is that which may not appear to be very prevalent, but is all-pervasive; which is the essential; that to which nothing has been added.

We usually use these two words — ordinary and common — as synonyms but they are not synonyms. Continue reading
